Mike is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CGMA) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University College Galway. He retired in 2024 after 38+ years working in a variety of business sectors including Information Technology, Pharmaceutical, Project Management and Not-For-Profit/Charitable organisations.
Having lived and worked in the U.K. for multi-national organisations, Mike returned to Ireland in 1997. In 2007 Mike commenced working in the Not-For-Profit/Charity business sector, bringing his commercial experience in finance, human resources, information technology, governance, project management and people management into this new arena.
Since 2007 Mike has held senior Finance and Operational positions in a number of charitable organisations and has gained extensive experience in understanding the requirements and challenges for charities in relation to funding, compliance, governance and operations.
Mike is passionate about charities and the services that they provide both in Ireland and overseas and he continues to work in partnership with and support charities whenever possible.
