John Boland was appointed CEO of HEAnet, the internet services provider for Ireland’s Higher Education and Research Sector, in 1997. By the time John left 3 years ago, along with the Universities and Institutes of Technology, every primary and post-primary school in Ireland was connected to the HEAnet network.
John has previously worked as Systems and Networks Manager in Dublin City University and with a number of international companies including Marconi Communications Systems in the UK and Motorola Information Systems in the US and the UK.
John holds the Diploma in Corporate Governance from UCD Smurfit Business School and is currently Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee at the Dublin Institute of Advanced Studies.
